Possibilities are endless.
Some thoughts off the top of my head.
- A mountain climber getting to the top of the mountain
- Cleaning supplies or a messy house. When you do a chore, take off the mess or cleaner until the house is clean (good for spring cleaning or preparing for a guest too)
- Car driving to Disneyland (or other family vacation to go on) with goals like "no TV for a year"
- Circles with pictures relating to the Articles of Faith. Each time you memorize one and pass it off, you can add it to the board
- A cut out of a family picture and numbers (like a dot-to-dot) that takes you to the ice cream store at the end (which of course you go get ice cream when done)
- Have an envelope with covers of books to have them read. They pick one out randomly to read. When the book is read they can stick it to the "bookshelf"
- Put animals in the places on the "zoo chart" (and can take a trip to the zoo at the end if you want)
- If you have a plan of specific things you want to teach the kids in days to come, they pick the new picture each day as an introduction to the lesson and put it on a calendar (also a good reminder of lessons taught past). i.e. in seven days teach the creation of the world and put up the new one each day taught. You could even have them draw the pictures of "light and dark", "land and water", "animals", etc. to put up on the poster
- A jack-o-lantern where you add face pieces to the pumpkin
- Pieces to a Thanksgiving dinner to put on the table
- Presidents of the United States as you learn about them
- Shapes as you learn about them and other things you can find with that shape
- An arrow going up the keys of a piano for everyday they practice piano
- A panda climbing a tree
- A unicorn to a rainbow (since my daughter is really into unicorns...do whatever your child is interested in)
- A ruler to learn to count by 2's, 3's, 4's, 10's, etc where they can count out the numbers and put dots or whatever on each number. i.e Put a dot on the numbers 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, etc. Then move the dots later when learning to count by 3's or whatever
